Council rejects sewage works plan
Plans for a new sewage treatment works for north Cornwall have been rejected by county planners.
South West Water said the location in Back Lane at Bossiney, near Tintagel, was the best option as other sites would cause more environmental damage.
County councillors said the sewage works would be too close to homes and the coastal footpath and voted against the scheme by 15 votes to three.
South West Water is now considering whether to lodge an appeal.
Planning permission had already been granted and councillors were expected to approve the plans.
Protesters also said they were worried about the impact the works could have on tourism in the area.
