Sewage works considered
Controversial applications for two new sewage treatment works in Cornwall are being discussed by county councillors on Wednesday.
One at Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula is being recommended for approval.
A decision on the other sewage works for the Lizard area is likely to be delayed.
South West Water wants to build the sewage works at Portscatho, where crude waste is currently pumped into the sea.
There have been a number of objections from local people who say they are worried about the smell, appearance and noise from any possible treatment works.
The County Council's planning committee has been asked to approve the scheme, as long as South West Water keeps the operating times to normal office hours.
Similar concerns have been raised about the application for Church Cove on the Lizard, which is in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Councillors will decide whether to attend a further site meeting to look into the fears of local residents there.
